ACNE

Acne affects up to 95% of teenagers and 40% of adults. Many people are left with acne scars and acne marks (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) long after acne treatment. Having a simple skincare routine helps to control excess skin oil, reduce acne blemishes and imperfections, and keep skin healthy and balanced.

Acne is a chronic inflammatory condition of the hair follicles. Genetics and hormones, comedogenic skincare use, specific medications, and stress can all contribute to the appearance of acne spots.

The bacterium Cutibacterium acnes, formerly called Propionibacterium acnes, is the primary responsible for acne spots.

This condition affects mostly skin areas where the skin is oily such as the face, neck, and upper torso. Therefore, choosing oil-free and non-comedogenic skincare products in your daily routine is very important to keep your acne-prone skin blemish-free.

Types of Acne

Non-inflammatory Acne:

  • blackheads and whiteheads

Inflammatory Acne:

  • inflamed pimples (papules);
  • pus-filled, inflamed blisters (pustules) and cysts (Cystic Acne)
